Farewell Fashion Folio, Hello Haleeb & Honey!

November 24, 2013

farewell

Hello friends!

I wanted to thank you all for reading my simple, little ole blog for the last four years!  Man, has it been that long?!  I started Fashion Folio back in 2009 as a creative outlet to write about something I love so much, fashion!  I felt at the time, as I still do, that you should never have to move somewhere else to do what you love to do.  As a Colorado native, I wanted to be here, in Denver.  After a semester of fashion merchandising school in San Francisco back in 2007, I decided I needed to move back home and take my chances.  I think I was home for a day or so when a girlfriend and I decided to go out for a girls’ night downtown.  I met my now husband!  I also landed a paid fashion editorial gig with the now defunct This Week in Denver website.  I have really enjoyed the opportunities that have come across my desk with Fashion Folio- tickets to local fashion shows, news about local designers, first dibs on sales, but a lot has changed singe 2009.  Now married, a homeowner, a college grad and a new momma, I really want to take my writing more seriously and open it up to cover ALL of my interests, which can all be boiled down to one main thing- sharing my love of Denver and all the things that make this place so great.

So, let me be the first to introduce you to my new labor of love, Haleeb & Honey!  Haleeb is milk in Arabic, my hubby is from Syria, and since becoming a momma I have realized that we all start off with the basics, milk.  It provides our bodies with all the complexities of nourishment needed to grow, and our momma’s make it!  Pretty incredible…So, Haleeb & Honey is meant to be a place to get your daily dose to help you continue to grow.  As a challenge to myself to continue to do what I love to do, explore my city, try new restaurants, visit new places, style a new trend, meet a new friend, read a book, discover an artist or musical talent, and you can fill in the blanks too, I wanted a place to share the highlights with you all too.  I love nothing more than to play tour guide around my dear Denver, so I hope you use this as your little pocket guide.  If you are ever in town, look me up or shoot me a line!

If you are anything like me, you can’t resist a little something sweet to round out your day.  Bring on the honey!  I am reserving plenty of blog space on the new site for sprinklings of sweetness!  I hope you will all follow along with me on the adventures about to unfold over on Haleeb & Honey!

I am so happy to launch just in time for the holidays!  We have some great things coming, including a few GREAT giveaways from some of my favorite local boutiques!

Thanks so much for reading, returning, and sharing Fashion Folio over the years, and I’ll see you over on the new site!

Hey Denverites!  Did you have any clue that we were trend spotted as a top flannel-wearing city?!  I had no idea until Duluth Trading Co. so kindly brought it to my attention.  You MUST check out their post about it on their “Whatchamablog.”  So clever!  That’s their graphic above!  As a Colorado native, you might find it unbelievable, or not, that up until this point, I did not have a flannel shirt in my wardrobe.  I am sure I have had them when I was younger.  In fact, reflecting on it now, I am pretty sure that in my adolescence I had taken over one of my dad’s that was so over size on me, and super thin from wear.  However, since I have spotted the flannel trend creeping up on the street style scene, see my Pinterest board on it here, I let the idea of sporting one again enter my mind and added a classic flannel shirt to my “To Get” note on the iPhone.  I can scratch that off my list now thanks to the generosity of Duluth Trading Co. with the perfect shape and weight, in the new Free Swingin’ Flannel.  Since it arrived on my doorstep Friday, I have worn it pretty much all weekend.  I thought it would be fun to show how I plan to wear my flannel a couple ways below.  I thought of a few more since this little photo sesh my hubby did this afternoon.  I thought three outfit changes were enough for today and so did baby.  I will add that I will most likely play with layering it under sweaters come winter, and play it lady like and buttoned up with a statement necklace or jewel collar, tucked into high waist slacks or skirt.  LOVING this as a light jacket right now, but also having fun using it as a punky, 90’s style accessory and knotting it around the waist.  I also took a trip to their website and discovered an even better flannel!  Check out their Women’s Long Sleeve Crosscut Flannel Tunic!  What look is your fave?

Oh, P.S. I had found that awesome little red lumber jack fleece flannel coat for babe on a thrifting jaunt a while back.  She got to sport it on a brisk morning last week to check out the new Dunkin’ Donuts in downtown Denver!  Hers is by Osh Kosh, and you can’t see them, but it has elbow patches!

Meet Me on the Terrace…this Thursday!

September 10, 2013

Save The Date

Update: This event has been postponed until September 19th due to the rain!

Come shop and bee-bop with me on the rooftop terrace at the Museum Residences this Thursday night to ring in the fall weather fashion with Shop Pure Addiction!  Fall is my absolute favorite!  I am not a summer gal.  Not having the gams for shorts, and having been tied to breast-feeding-friendly clothing since May, has left me longing for cooler temps to utilize layers and more of my closet.  Did I mention I get all in the mood with the pumpkin spice anythings and chance to wear boots and now with a baby, an excuse to find costumes?!  Getting giddy just thinking about it!  Anyway, join me and Pure Addiction Thursday, September 12th from 6-9 pm for a little shopping pop-up event.  Preview the site’s fall line up before everyone else over drinks and bites!  The women’s clothing e-commerce site offers some of my favorite labels like Dolce Vita shoes and Matt & Nat handbags which made me extra happy!  Might want to pack your umbrella just in case.  Here a few of my faves from the site…
