FFFfffff…..Friends who Know Fashion!

July 23, 2010

Happy Friday! Sorry about the lack of posts as of late. I have been a busy bee this summer. A trip to Mexico got me engaged, immediately took a weekend trip to Steamboat to play bridesmaid for a good friend and now headed to Vail for the fiance’s soccer tournament. I haven’t dismissed Facebook Fashion Fridays, they’ll just be little nuggets of inspiration doled out here and there. So without further ado, I give you my dear friend Renee Mudd, of The-Intersection, Denver Examiner, photographer, Ideal Woman spokeswoman, and prior Denver gallivanting fame. She has moved on from whimsical afternoons drinking cider beer at Riverfront Park, and chumming it up at Forest Room Five and Colt and Gray to adventures in NYC where she’s taken her grandiose ideas and big talent for lifestyle branding with her. Her love of confidence and character are evident in her ability to take risks with accessories. The whole nerdy frames thing, think Elber Elbaz of Lanvin or Marc Jacobs’ runway, Renee has executed effortlessly. Fur hats that look like kittens and turbans meant for House of Waris jeweler-types, Ms. Mudd aces accessories, proving she’s a genuine, style star. Here are a few rare fashion moments captured in front of the lens.

Facebook Fashion Friday!!!!

Maggie Gulasey. If you’ve ever met her, you know her enthusiasm and passion for her work runs through to her everyday life. She works for our local love, Novo Coffee and when I was introduced to her at the Museum Residences location, she bubbled with joy and excitement for the beans she brews. She’s got a thing for headpieces. Be it bowler hats, scarves twisted into turbans or a simple piece of colored string, this is Maggie’s signature piece of flare. She’s an individualist, with a free spirit, and a smile and personality as bright as the gleam on the Clover machine she mans. I especially love the knit scarf she wears in the second photo, it’s by Chris Loffelmacher for another local love, Caveman Knits. Here’s to great, barista style.

Facebook Fashion Friday!!!

They say dancers have an inate sense of style, and I’m not just saying that because I’m a dancer and have something to prove. Meet Natalie Taylor. Natalie and I used to dance together at the Academy of Colorado Ballet years ago, and after reacquainting through Facebook and clicking through her photo albums, there was more than enough vintage ensembles to covet that I had to, well, put her on stage. With friends on her arm like the notable photographer Mark Sink, and the adorable stylist Liz Eckland, coffee dates on the rooftop cafe at the Museum of Contemporary Art, SXSW concerts on the lawn, and art show openings at Illiterate it makes sense that she’d have an enviable closet full of vintage. Braided hair, bow tie and bell sleeved blouses, high waisted minis, strapless rompers, you name it, Natalie has tried it, and nailed it. Here are my favorites, and it didn’t matter the season, Natalie was always in her element; always style never a costume.
