Push Pin Your Town: Larimer Square & a “Peachy” Sale

“Millions of peaches, peaches for free!”  Who did that song again?  One of my all time fave spots in Denver has to be Larimer Square!  Such a great little block of some of the oldest buildings in town, a collection of the best restaurants, cute shops and great people watching!  When I was attending CU Denver, I would walk to that block on every break I could.  While the boutiques and some of the restaurants change over from time to time, as with any commercial real estate, the vibe of the square always remains the same.  Cosmopolitan yet quaint.  Yesterday I made a trip downtown to meet a friend for lunch and ended up strolling the square with baby.  This weekend happens to be their “Peachy” Sidewalk Sale!  I was scoping out the goods at a couple of my favorite shops.  Nest Boutique on Larimer Square has two full racks of boy and girl clothing, newborn to size 8 that will be 50% off or more!  Also worth it to pop inside Nest because they have the softest layette collection from organic labels like Kate Quinn and Nohi.  The owner also carries plenty of local artisans including these adorable felt baby maryj anes by Littleton designer Tilly Whistle which I was so happy to stumble upon yesterday!  Of course I had to get a pair for babe!  You can also buy books, toys, blankies or burp cloths (not on sale this weekend, but very special gifts indeed.)  Blush boutique has all but one rack marked down 40%, 50% and 60% off!  Nest Boutique validates parking if you drive, but you can always take the train and walk a few blocks west.

I recommend starting your Larimer Square adventure with a latte and a pastry at The Market Cafe to get some fuel.  Or, if you’re hungry, start with a breakfast sandwich of theirs- HUGE!  On the same side of the street, shop Apricot Lane for affordable and trendy pieces and  Blush for gorgeous blouses and dresses from Equipment, Tibi, and Rebecca Taylor.  I picked up an adorable, slouchy pair of army green shorts by Sanctuary that were marked down 40% at Blush.  Other shops include Eve, Hailee, (downstairs in the Walkway), Blue Ruby, Scarpaletto and Roxy all worth a peek.  I also LOVE Victoriana for vintage and antique jewelry- WOW!  John Atencio also has a storefront for diamond gazing.  There are a few mens stores as well, like Moda Man and a new shoe store a couple doors down, so drag the guy along.  You can end your evening with a yummy dinner at Rioja (Italian), Tamayo (Mexican) or Tom’s Diner (American)- my three picks for food.  If you stay really late, head to Corridor 44, a champagne bar and then dancing at Suit 200, a nightclub upstairs!

The sidewalk sale is this weekend, July 26th -28th, and also features fresh Colorado peaches that are FREE.  Larimer Square restaurants will participate as well – creating desserts, appetizers, salads, entrees, and drinks from the fresh peaches!

10:00 – 6:00 Saturday (7/27)
